Thesis (MA/MS)
The thesis must demonstrate an ability to work independently and give evidence of independent thought, both in perceiving problems and making satisfactory progress toward their solution.
All theses must be prepared in accordance with the Handbook for the Preparation of the Thesis or Research Paper and any additional formatting manual required by the department or School of Graduate Studies.
Corresponding thesis templates are also available to assist in the formatting of thesis papers (located under the MA/MS Track).
A student electing the Thesis Option is required to submit one (1) original and one (1) photocopy of the thesis to the School of Graduate Studies in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree
Creative Thesis – MA in English Only
A creative thesis is a collection of the student’s own work, which development is overseen by the student’s advisor. For more information, contact the English Department.
The Creative Thesis Handbook assists in the final preparation of creative work. All other aspects of the creative thesis must match the general thesis requirements and guidelines as described in the Handbook for the Preparation of the Thesis or Research Paper.

Research Paper (MA/MS)
The research paper must be prepared in accordance with the Handbook for the Preparation of the Thesis or Research Paper and any additional formatting manual required by the department or School of Graduate Studies.

A student electing the Research Paper option is required to submit one (1) original copy of the research paper to the School of Graduate Studies in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree.
Final Project/Course (Applied Master’s)
Every applied master’s program must include a final project, i.e. an experiential-based activity typical of preparation for practice in the field. Go to the Applied Master’s Handbook for assistance in formatting your final project.
