Trisha Hansen Named Corrections Person of the Year

Trisha Hansen, instructor of criminal justice at Bemidji State University, was named the Minnesota Corrections Association’s Person of the Year at the MCA’s Annual Training Institute held in Nisswa on Oct. 26-27.

According to the MCA, the Corrections Person of the Year Award is given for “outstanding contribution in the field of corrections in Minnesota by an individual including clergy, judges, legislators, group home parents, corrections professionals and others.”

“While I am incredibly humbled and honored by this award, my achievement truly comes as a result of the strong staff I have around me, my family that supports me and those who have walked beside me throughout my career,” Hansen said.  “I am very blessed and grateful for these individuals who keep me focused and on track.”

A 1995 BSU Criminal Justice graduate, Hansen has worked 12 years as the Minnesota Department of Corrections’ district supervisor for Clearwater and Beltrami Counties. She teaches community corrections and principles of criminal justice supervision courses for BSU’s Department of Criminal Justice.
