Bemidji State University will host its annual Sexual Responsibility Week beginning Feb. 10.
The week will consist of various peer-to-peer events meant to educate students on developing healthy relationships, making responsible choices and the process of reporting and preventing sexual violence.
A conversation with HIV Strategy and Services Coordinator Mariah Wilberg from the Minnesota Department of Human Services will be among the events offered on campus that are free and open to the public. Wilberg will share insight into the creation of END HIV MN, a comprehensive plan to end new HIV infections and improve health outcomes for those living with HIV.
The goal of Sexual Responsibility Week is to create a community where consent is informed and people respect the personal boundaries of those around them. All events are sponsored by the Student Center for Health and Counseling, BSU Lifestyle Educators, Bemidji’s Support Within Reach, Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
In partnership with Support Within Reach, the Minnesota Department of Health and the Northwest Regional Navigator, the Bemidji community is also welcome to attend a presentation that will outline the implications of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in our our region.
