BSU TAD Students Earn 96% Pass Rate on Lean Six Sigma Certification Exam

Twenty-four Bemidji State University students enrolled in the Quality Assurance course taught by associate professor of technology, art & design Dr. Mahmoud Al-Odeh’s, passed the Lean Six Sigma certification exam.

Al-Odeh’s students earned a 96% pass rate, scoring higher than the national average pass rate of 91%.

Lean Six Sigma is a management strategy that utilizes several tools and techniques to improve the efficiency of a business process. Organizations use this team-oriented method to solve problems, maximize efficiency, improve customer satisfaction and improve profitability. There are three levels of certification, including yellow belt, green belt and black belt.

“Having Lean Six Sigma certification in your profile shows your ability to improve processes in any business and prove your analytical abilities. The certification makes BSU students stand out from the competition, which will lead to better career opportunities and better salary,” Al-Odeh said. “It is a prestigious certification in the field where few people can pass the exam.”

The students enrolled in TADT 4878 Quality Assurance course were provided with an intensive training by Al-Odeh during the last three weeks of the fall 2019 semester. At the end of the training, they were given a practice test to ensure their readiness before taking the official exam.

“I’m extremely happy with this result as it confirms my belief in the high quality of education at BSU. Students are extremely excited about the results and they already have added the certification to their resumes,” he said.
