Dr. Faith Hensrud, president of Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College, officially kicked off Bemidji State’s 2019-20 spring semester at a Jan. 8 welcome breakfast on campus.
Several hundred members of the university’s faculty, staff and administration gathered to celebrate fall achievements and preview significant events on BSU’s horizon.
Hensrud shared two strategic plans for BSU’s Department of Athletics and campus diversity that were first unveiled in December, and provided brief updates on enrollment and the Hagg-Sauer Hall construction project.
“Our strategic priorities as developed in 2018 were grounded in enrollment growth, financial sustainability and an emphasis on creating a campus culture where all individuals are embraced, and welcomed,” Hensrud said. “Our focus on student success, persistence and completion are seen within our strategic plan. They are seen in our academic plan, our athletics plan and our diversity plans. Ensuring progress while implementing these plans will be a critical aspect of our work in 2020 and beyond.”
Startup activities continue throughout the week in advance of BSU’s official start of spring classes on Jan. 13.
