The Bemidji State University Department of Music announced the inaugural Holiday Gala set for the evening of Dec. 6 in support of the university’s music programs.
Dr. Dwight Jilek, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at BSU, said the Department of Music felt the holiday season was a fitting opportunity for the university to implement a new premier event for the Bemidji community.
“We have an opportunity to get moving on our next level of planning for the future, and start right away,” he said. “We’re looking forward to turning the page and finding what the next 50 years will be.”
Enter the Holiday Gala! Complete with hors d’oeuvres, drinks, dessert and a variety of musical performances, the formal BSU Holiday Gala is meant to be a true celebration of the season continuing a Bemidji State tradition of uniting the community in music.
“For many years, Bemidji has been a central hub for the arts,” Jilek said. “There is a wealth of students in the surrounding area looking for more opportunities to sing. We have been talking about the best ways to get out and get more people involved in singing in the north.”
The Holiday Gala will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Beaux Arts Ballroom on campus and cocktail attire is requested. Tickets are $30 and reservations are required. All proceeds will support the Bemidji State University’s Department of Music.
