44 students attended Bemidji State University’s “Are You Career Ready?” event held in the Beaux Arts Ballroom on Feb. 28.
The event allowed students to connect with professionals on topics of global and intercultural fluency, teamwork and collaboration, leadership, critical thinking and problem solving, professionalism and work ethic, digital technology, career management and oral and written communication.
Students explored each of these topic areas to prepare them for graduation and their future careers.
“Employers are looking for all of these skills in an employee,” Josey Fog, assistant director of the Hobson Memorial Union, said. “Being able to explain and show understanding of these topics is critical to the interview process.”
Community volunteers at the event included Natalie Rader from Affinity Credit Union, Michael Anderson from Federated Insurance, Kasey Hjort from Sanford Health, LeeAnn Shogren from Pinnacle Marketing Group and representatives from Peacemaker Resources.
The event was sponsored by BSU’s Career Services, American Marketing Association Club, Accounting Club, Business Club, Student Alumni Association, Northern Student, Social Work Club and Campus Activities Board.
