Tess Heyer, a business administration major from Owatonna, Minn., is an assistant residence hall director for Bemidji State’s Office of Housing and Residential Life.
She chose to get involved with res life because she wanted to help give students the opportunity to have memorable on-campus experiences.
“My involvement with res life has been most impactful in relationship building,” she said. “It’s really enjoyable to socialize and connect with residents.”
Heyer specifically works in Oak Hall where she coordinates monthly events aimed towards first-year residents.
“My favorite events are our monthly FYREside chats,” she said. “They are academically focused events that sometimes include really cool speakers like the local drug task force or the Bemidji Fire Department.”
Housing & Residential Life will begin hiring resident assistants (RAs) and peer academic advisers (PAAs) for the 2018-19 academic year in February. Applications are available as early as December. You can follow Hpusing & Residential Life on Facebook to learn more.
