Kallie Hoplin, a business administration major from Champlin, Minn., is the vice president of programming and outreach for Bemidji State University’s Student Alumni Association.
Hoplin joined the organization after realizing how many alumni are dedicated not only to giving back to BSU by donating time, professional expertise and finances, but also through their selflessness efforts to guide students toward a successful career after graduation.
“BSU is a small school, and the people that came before us are truly empowering,” she said. “It’s exciting to see where people go and what they accomplish after they graduate.”
Throughout her involvement with the Student Alumni Association, Hoplin has found the university’s annual Alumni Leaders in the Classroom event during Homecoming to be the most impactful.
“Student Alumni Association members get the opportunity to meet and network with the alumni speakers before the actual panel in the classrooms,” Hoplin said. “I’ve met CEOs that are here in Bemidji as well as CEOs out in Boston. They say it’s all about who you know, and being involved with the Student Alumni Association has introduced me to many outstanding people.”
The Student Alumni Association sponsors events focused around networking, post graduation planning and alumni appreciation, and anyone is free to suggest new ideas and opportunities for events or activities.
The association meets every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. in Memorial Hall 300.
