On Aug. 23, Bemidji State University’s American Indian Resource Center held its traditional Day of Welcome to open the fall semester.
BSU President Faith Hensrud and AIRC Executive Director Bill Blackwell, Jr., offered welcomes, followed by an honor song and a celebration song by The Kingbird Singers. Kevin Locke, a storyteller, native flautist and hoop dancer, shared a legend and song. Dr. Anton Treuer, BSU professor of Ojibwe, gave the invocation.
Following the program, attendees sampled a variety of wild rice dishes and participated in a Student Services Information Fair in the AIRC Gathering Room
