Leadership Lecturer Encourages Open Minds for Alternative Perspectives

Dr. Lee McBride, associate professor of philosophy at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, will present the first lecture in Bemidji State University’s new Leadership Studies Lecture Series on Apr. 25.

McBride’s presentation, “Democratic Vision Amid Dialectical Tensions”, begins at 7 p.m. in Hagg-Sauer Hall 112. The lecture is open to everyone free of charge.

During the lecture, McBride will examine the juxtaposition of conflicting ideas and the importance of recognizing these tensions in democratic contexts.

“We must aspire to see our limitations and yet set goals and expectations,” he said.” In business, government and our personal lives, we must remain open to alternative perspectives and yet maintain and carry forward those ideas and cultural goods that remain wise.”
