Bemidji State University celebrated campus multiculturalism at its 47th Annual Festival of Nations on Apr. 13 in the Beaux Arts Ballroom.
Sponsored by the International Student Organization; BSU’s Student Activity Fee Allocation Committee; Aramark; Dr. Thomas Beech, professor of political science; Nei Bottling and Housing and Residence Life, the free event continued its legacy as the longest running multicultural festival at BSU.
The festival featured more than 90 ethnic cultures and 30 different countries representing international students on campus and immigrants in the community. Celebrating cultural heritage, the event offered a platform to share stories, world-class performances, exhibits, ethnic cuisine and intercultural connections.
Expressing this year’s theme “One World, One Sound” which hopes to promote cultures through food and music, students from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Ethiopia, South Korea, Mexico and the Native American Society shared their cultures’ food with people at the festival. Other events at the festival included cultural dances, songs and a fashion show, as well as displays of student art and cultural traditions.
