McKnight Foundation Artists Featured in Talley Gallery Through April 29

Work by six artists who have won McKnight Foundation Fellowships and Residencies is on display at Bemidji State University’s Talley Gallery through April 29 as part of a touring fellowship exhibit.

The McKnight Artist Fellowships and Residencies for Ceramic Artists programs are designed to strengthen and enhance Minnesota’s artistic community. The fellowship awards are used to defray studio and living expenses, allow artists to experiment with new materials and techniques and to build upon ideas within their work. Residencies are granted to artists outside Minnesota for a three-month stay at the Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis.

The six featured artists are:

  • Kelly Connole, a 2014 McKnight Fellow from Northfield, Minn.
  • Kip O’Krongly, a 2014 McKnight Fellow from Northfield, Minn.
  • Claudia Alvarez, a 2013 McKnight Residency Award recipient from New York, N.Y.
  • Sanam Emami, a 2013 McKnight Residency Award recipient from Fort Collins, Colo.
  • Sarah Heimann, a 2013 McKnight Residency Award recipient from Lebanon, N.H.
  • Jae Won Lee, a 2014 McKnight Residency Award recipient from East Lansing, Mich.

Each year the Northern Clay Center develops an exhibit of fellowship and residency recipients which tours Minnesota to share the work with people outside of the metro area. Since 1997, the McKnight Foundation has recognized 36 artists with fellowships and awarded 67 residencies.

The McKnight exhibit and all activities at the Talley Gallery are supported by the BSU Student Activity Fee Allocation Committee.
