The auditions will take place in the Thompson Recital Hall of the university’s Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex. The auditions are open to instrumentalists and vocalists interested in Bemidji State’s music program, and who will enter or transfer to the university in the fall of 2016. Auditions are also open to those who wish to participate in music activities, but who may not be pursuing a music degree.
The extensive selection of awards offered by the Department of Music includes full-tuition scholarships for Minnesota residents, housing scholarships, many endowed scholarships and numerous cash awards. More than four dozen BSU students are currently receiving music scholarships.
Students who are unable to be present on Feb. 20 may schedule an audition at another time, and are encouraged to contact the Department of Music for additional information. Recorded auditions are accepted for all but full- and partial-tuition scholarships.
BSU’s Department of Music has a long and distinguished reputation for musical performance and academic training. Students, regardless of major, may participate in a wide variety of performance settings, including concert band and wind ensemble, jazz band, orchestra, choirs, operas and chamber music experiences.
Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and also acknowledged by Steinway & Sons as an “All-Steinway School,” the department offers a bachelor of arts degree in music and a bachelor of science degree in music education.
