Reva Renollet has been named Miss Koochiching County.

She will represent the community at the Miss Minnesota International Pageant March 12 at the Kimberly Ritsche Auditorium in St. Cloud.

The Miss Minnesota International Pageant motivates young women and their families to exemplify traditional family values, and to make a difference by getting involved in their communities, reports Debbie Griffith, who represented Koochiching County in 2004 at the Mrs. Minnesota International Pageant.

As Miss Koochiching County, Renollet said she wants to be a healthy and positive role model for young women, encouraging them to make good choices physically and morally.

“We all make mistakes, but we do not have to allow them to define us,” she said in a news release. “I think the biggest challenge facing young women today is simply being the best ‘you’ can be and not comparing ourselves to others and wishing or thinking we should be like somebody else. Instead, we need to focus on using our own unique gifts not just for ourselves, but for others, too.”

Renollet’s platform as Miss Koochiching County is to encourage people to reach out and help others where they’re at and specifically as an advocate for people with developmental disabilities so they and their families can thrive and connect purposely in day to day life.

Renollet graduated in 2013 from Falls High School where she was actively involved in the community and was a starting volleyball and basketball player. She went on to play volleyball for Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Fergus Falls and received her associate in arts degree.

Renollet is currently attending Bemidji State University where she’s pursuing a degree in elementary education and eventually a master’s degree in special education. She has gone on two mission trips to Jamaica, in 2012 and 2013, to work at West Haven Children’s Home which provides care and treatment for the mentally and physically disabled and those less fortunate.

Renollet is a licensed personal care assistant and has helped care for Carter Herberg from International Falls.

Renollet said it’s an honor to represent the community.
