Bemidji State University’s American Indian Resource Center held a two-part Makizinikewin, moccasin-making workshop, Nov. 20 and Nov. 21.
The workshop was guided by Sarah Agaton Howes, an Anisinaabe artist, teacher and community organizer from the Fond du Lac Reservation. She is renowned for her handmade regalia and moccasins featuring Ojibwe floral designs. The workshop was the conclusion of the AIRC’s schedule of activities to celebrate Native American Heritage Week, part of Native American Heritage Month.
