Miranda, an Army veteran and single mom, is graduating this May and completing her journey to a degree in nursing.
She moved from San Antonio to Bemidji in 2010 after her enlistment ended to be closer to her parents, who live near Shevlin.
“Now that I’m graduating, it’s been about a 10-year journey to get a four-year degree,” she said.
She credits her ability to live in Cedar Apartments, BSU’s unique on-campus residential facility specifically for single parents, to her success.
“It was the ideal situation,” she said. “It really has enabled me to be successful in my education.”
