Nepalese BSU students to raise funds to help Nepal earthquake relief

BEMIDJI — Two Nepalese students at BSU will raise funds on the BSU campus Wednesday to support those affected by this past weekend’s earthquake in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Ruhi Sharma, a junior in business administration, and Bibek Shakya, a senior in business administration, are coordinating the effort to raise funds from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the lower Hobson Memorial Union’s Lakeside Food Court.

Sharma has been in Bemidji for about two and half years and Shakya is graduating this May and has been in Bemidji for three and half years. Funds raised will support either Oxfam America or the World Food Program USA, which are directly involved in the relief effort. The students are working to coordinate more possible donation opportunities over the next week as they study for finals and prepare for commencement.
