A last-minute tour cancellation will bring the Chicago-based Alliance Brass Quintet to Bemidji State University for an April 27 concert.
The concert will begin at 6 p.m. in the Thompson Recital Hall of BSU’s Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex. Tickets will be available at the door for $5; all students will be admitted free.
The Bemidji show will be part of the quintet’s spring tour that is taking it through South Dakota and Minnesota through the end of April. The eight-state tour continues through July.
Members of the Alliance Brass Quintet have performed all over the world and have shared stages with orchestras such as the Boston Pops, the symphony orchestras in Boston and Chicago and the Cleveland Orchestra. They have also performed with some of the world’s leading chamber ensembles, such as the Boston Brass.
In addition to their performance schedule, quintet members have served on the faculty last some of the country’s leading music institutions, including the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, DePaul University, the International Festival and Institute at Roundtop and more. They also have developed programs that can be used by others to complement and enhance existing school music programs.
