Bemidji State University’s undergraduate students will share the results of their research during BSU’s 16th annual Student Scholarship and Creative Achievement Conference.
The April 8 conference begins at 9 a.m. Poster presentations will be held in the Crying Wolf Room of the lower Hobson Memorial Union, and student presentations will be held throughout Hagg-Sauer Hall. Poster presentations will close at 11:30, and eight sessions of student presentations will continue until 2:50 p.m.
The conference will break for lunch and a keynote presentation at noon. This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Stephen Vogt, chief investment officer for Mesirow Advanced Strategies, Inc., and a 1985 BSU alum.

All activities during the Student Scholarship and Creative Achievement Conference are free and open for everyone.
About Dr. Stephen Vogt
Dr. Stephen Vogt is the chief investment officer of Mesirow Advanced Strategies, Inc., part of Chicago-based Mesirow Financial. Vogt evaluates investment opportunities and evaluates opportunities and risks in the marketplace.
Before joining Mesirow he was an associate professor of finance at DePaul University. There, he researched empirical tests for financial theories and was published in academic and trade journals.
Vogt is a member of the investment and executive committees at Mesirow Advanced Strategies, is on the executive committee and Board of Directors for Mesirow Financial Holdings, Inc. He also is a member of the BSU Foundation board and is on BSU’s National Steering Committee for the Imagine Tomorrow campaign.
Vogt has a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics from Bemidji State and earned master’s and doctorate degrees in economics from Washington University-St. Louis.
