• Mahmoud Al-Odeh, assistant professor of technology, art and design, presented “Impacts of Technology on Minority Populations” at the 35th annual Humanities and Technology Conference, hosted by St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Fla., from Nov. 7-9.
He also presented two research papers at the 2013 Association of Technology Management and Applied Engineering conference, Nov. 20-23 in New Orleans. He presented on papers entitled “Impact of Distance Learning on Traditional Educational Institutions” and “Implementing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology into Supply Chain of Small-to-Medium Manufacturing Factories.”
Al-Odeh also coordinated a pair of VEX Robotics scrimmages, Oct. 10 and Nov. 14, for approximately 45 students from five high schools. The participating teams used the scrimmages to work on or build their robots for use in competitions, learn game and field objects used in the competitions, and to get assistance with programming, troubleshooting or design. They also sparred against other teams and tested designs and programming on the game field.
