Registration is now open for summer youth swimming lessons at Bemidji State University. Lessons cost $55 per child per session and will be held at the Gillett Recreation-Fitness Center pool on campus beginning July 9.
Two sessions will be offered this summer: session 1 will be held Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from July 9 – August 1, and session 2 will be held Monday thru Thursday mornings from August 5-15. Lessons are offered for $55 per session.
Classes will be offered targeting various skill levels according to American Red Cross levels.
Session 1 schedule:
Level 1: 4-4:35 p.m.
Level 2: 4:45-5:20 p.m.
Level 3: 5:30-6:05 p.m.
Level 4: 6:15-6:50 p.m.
Levels 5 & 6: 7-7:35 p.m.
Session 2 schedule:
Level 1: 8:30-9:05 a.m.
Level 2: 9:15-9:50 a.m.
Level 3: 10-10:35 a.m.
Levels 4 & 5: 10:45-11:20 a.m.
Skill levels follow criteria set by the American Red Cross. Level 1 is an introduction to water skills designed to help students feel comfortable in the water; Level 2 provides fundamental aquatic skills; Level 3 focuses on stroke development; Level 4 on stroke improvement; Level 5 on stroke refinement; and Level 6 on swimming and skill proficiency.
