On April 16, five Bemidji State University music professors and instructors and their electronic music ensemble, the MIDiots, will collaborate for a 7:30 p.m. concert.
The concert will be held in the Thompson Recital Hall in Bemidji State’s Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex; admission is free.
The MIDiots include BSU faculty members Dr. Del Lyren, professor of music; Dr. Erika Svanoe, assistant professor of music; adjunct faculty members Greg Gaston and Eric Sundeen; and Bemidji State alum Lee Foster. Lyren and Svanoe play Electronic Wind Instruments; Gaston plays the wave drum and electronic drum set; Sundeen plays a Malletkat; and Foster plays bass.
The group will perform all original music composed specifically for the MIDiots by Lyren, Svanoe and Gaston.
The group has been playing together for two years and recently played its first gig at a commercial venue as featured artists at The Dakota in Minneapolis.
