Registration is now open for winter youth swimming lessons at Bemidji State University. Lessons cost $55 per child per session and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
Lessons will be held in three sessions; Session 1 will be held Jan. 8-Jan. 31; Session 2 will be held from Feb. 12-March 7; Each session will include different skill levels in 35-minute lessons beginning at 4 p.m. and ending at 6:00 p.m.
Session 1 will feature lessons for levels 1-3 and 5 as classified by the American Red Cross. Parent and toddler lessons will be held from 4:00-4:35 p.m.; Level 5 lessons will be held from 4:00-4:35 p.m.; Level 1 from 4:45-5:20 p.m.; Level 2 from 5:30-6:05 p.m.; and Level 3 from 6:15-6:50 p.m.
Session 2 will feature lessons for skill levels 1-4. Level 1 lessons will be held from 4-4:35 p.m.; Level 2 from 4:45-5:20 p.m.; Level 3 from 5:30-6:05 p.m.; and level 4 from 6:15 – 6:50 p.m.
Skill levels follow criteria set by the American Red Cross. Level 1 is an introduction to water skills designed to help students feel comfortable in the water; Level 2 provides fundamental aquatic skills; Level 3 focuses on stroke development; Level 4 on stroke improvement; and Level 5 on stroke refinement.
Due to the growth of the program and number of participants, in order to enroll for winter lessons, BSU requires on-site registration on Tuesday December 18th from 4:30-7:00pm and Thursday December 20th also from 4:30-7:00pm. Registration will be first come first serve and parents will need to fill out the necessary forms and make their payment to confirm their child’s spot. Forms will be available on-site.
