As our world changes and new concerns arise, what role should higher education play in creating the society that we want?
That pivotal question will be the subject of a “Shaping Our Futures” panel, held at Bemidji State University’s Hobson Memorial Union on Nov. 14. The discussion will be held from 5-7 p.m. in the lower union’s Crying Wolf Room and refreshments will be available.
Bemidji State University’s Hobson Memorial Union presents a dialogue on the different perspectives on the public purposes of higher education.
Historically, higher education has been the vehicle for addressing a variety of societal issues. This discussion provides students an opportunity to discuss different perspectives on this issue, identify local priorities and opportunities for collaboration and form connections and ideas for action.
“Shaping Our Futures” is sponsored by Blandin Foundation, InCommons, Travelers, DemocracyU, National Issues Forums, Minnesota Without Poverty, Minnsesota Campus Compact and Bemidji State University.
This event is free and open to the public. Advanced registration is encouraged at http://www.mncampuscompact.org/dialogues.
