Upcoming concerts for Bemidji State University’s Department of Music include BSU’s Wind Ensemble performing with the Northern Minnesota Honor Band; the Minnesota Music Teachers Association festival; and BSU’s Fall Festival choir concert.
Wind Ensemble / Northern Minnesota Honor Band
The Bemidji State University Wind Ensemble, together with the Northern Minnesota Honor Band, will perform in concert from 7 p.m. until 8:30p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Main Theatre of the Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex.
Participating in the Northern Minnesota Honor band will be over 60 top high school musicians representing over 12 different high schools, nominated as excellent music students by their high school band directors.
The performance is free and open to the public.
Minnesota Music Teachers Association Ensemble Festival
The Minnesota Music Teachers Association Ensemble Festival will take place on Saturday, Nov. 3. There will be two recitals. The first recital will be at 10:45 a.m., and the second will be at 1:00 p.m. Both recitals will take place in in the Thompson Recital Hall, located in the Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex.
Students of MMTA members, Frances Van Dorn and Margaret Maxwell, and family and friends will present a variety of musical duo selections from classical to pop on piano and other instruments.
This event is free and open to the public.
Fall Festival Choir Concert
Bemidji State University presents its annual Fall Festival Choir Concert, showcasing four choral ensembles, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4 in the Main Theatre of the Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex.
Performing will be the Varsity Singers, Musikanten, Chamber Singers and Bemidji Choir.
Concert repertoire is varied from sacred music of the renaissance to contemporary selections.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and free to all students with valid student IDs.
