BEMIDJI, Minn. (April 2, 2012) — The 2012 Scholarship Show, featuring works by students in Bemidji State University’s Department of Visual Arts, opens today.
The 2012 show features works based around the theme of consumption, and will run through Friday, April 27.
Visual arts students submit their work to the annual scholarship show as part of a competition for the department’s available financial aid rewards. This year’s judges include faculty from the art and design technologies departments.
More than $10,000 in scholarship awards are available to competitors in this year’s scholarship show. The scholarships are available to both major and minor candidates in the department. Donors who have established awards for visual arts through the BSU Foundation include Rick and Marcella Sherman, Roy and Eva Lind, Stephen and Lois Sorenson, Patty Persell, M. Fern Birnstihl, Lillie M. Kleven, Margaret H. Harlow, Eugene Dalzotto, and Keith Malmquist.
Located in room 212 of the Education Arts building on BSU campus, the Talley Gallery is barrier-free and open at no charge to the public. All activities in the Talley Gallery are supported by the University’s Student Activity Fee Allocation Committee. The Talley Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
