BEMIDJI, Minn. (Nov. 16, 2011) — Registration is now open for winter and spring youth swimming lessons at Bemidji State University.
Lessons cost $55 per child per session and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
Lessons will be held in three sessions; Session 1 will be held Jan. 10-Feb. 2; Session 2 will be held from Feb. 7-March 1; Session 3 will be held from March 20-April 12. Each session will include different skill levels in 35-minute lessons beginning at 4 p.m. and ending at 6:00 p.m.
Session 1 will feature lessons for parents and toddlers and skill levels 1-2 as classified by the American Red Cross. Parent and toddler lessons will be held from 4:00-4:30 p.m.; Level 1 lessons will be held from 4:45-5:20 p.m.; Level 2 from 5:30-6:05 p.m.; Level 3 from 5:30-6:05 p.m.; and Level 4 from 6:15-6:50 p.m.
Session 2 will feature lessons for skill levels 2-4. Level 2 lessons will be held from 4-4:35 p.m.; Level 3 from 4:45-5:20 p.m.; Level 4 from 5:30-6:05 p.m.
Session 3 will feature lessons for skill levels 1, 3, and 5. Level 1 lessons will be held from 4-4:35 p.m.; Level 3 from 4:45-5:20 p.m.; Level 4 from 5:30-6:05 p.m.
Skill levels follow criteria set by the American Red Cross. Level 1 is an introduction to water skills designed to help students feel comfortable in the water; Level 2 provides fundamental acquatic skills; Level 3 focuses on stroke development; Level 4 on stroke improvement; and Level 5 on stroke refinement.
