BEMIDJI, Minn. (Oct. 28, 2011) — The Rose Ensemble of Saint Paul will perform at Bemidji State University on Thursday, Nov. 3.
The show will begin at 7 p.m. in the Thompson Recital Hall in Bemidji State’s Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex. Tickets can be purchased for $12.
The ensemble will feature “Songs of Temperance and Temptation: 100 Years of Restraint and Revelry in Minnesota.” Prohibition will leap onto the stage as the show takes a look at the history and humor behind Minnesota’s long-standing love/hate relationship with the saloon. Music will consist of 1920s jazz, Victorian waltzes, ragtime, and gospel.
With special guest, Dan Chouinard, the ensemble will highlight anti-prohibition songs and include dancing, projections of historical photos, and narration from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s, “The Great Gatsby.”
