BEMIDJI, Minn. (Oct. 13, 2011) — Steve Radley, a senior in music from Luverne, Minn., will guest conduct Bemidji State University’s Symphonic Band during a joint concert with the Wind Ensemble.
The concert will be held Sunday, Oct. 23, and begin at 3 p.m. in the Thompson Recital Hall in Bemidji State’s Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens. Students are admitted free with a valid ID.
The Symphonic Band will be performing “Washington Post March” by John Philip Sousa, “I Am” by Andrew Boysen, Jr., “St. Louis Blues” and “Fate of the Gods” by Steven Reineke.
The Wind Ensemble will be performing “Overture to Candide” by Leonard Bernstein and “Handel in the Strand” by Percy Grainger.
The Wind Ensemble concert also will feature a performance of Gustav Holst’s “Second Suite in F.” The Holst Second Suite is one of the staples of wind band literature; 2011 marks the 100th anniversary of its composition.
