BEMIDJI, Minn. (August 16, 2011) — Bemidji State University’s Outdoor Program Center will hold events for paddle boarding, sailing and kayaking over the next several weeks.
Aug. 27 – Standup Paddleboard Demo, noon – 1 p.m. Free; contact OPC at (218) 755-2900 to register.
The Outdoor Program Center and No Comply Board Shop of Bemidji will provide a free demo of stand-up paddleboards. There will be equipment and an instructor on-hand to give guidance and tips.

Aug. 31 – Sailing Clinic, 1-3 p.m. Free; contact OPC at (218) 755-3900 to register.
This free clinic begins with small-boat safety, parts of a boat, knots, rigging and capsize procedures before taking to the water. Wetsuits, paddling jackets and lifejackets provided.

Sept. 1 – Sea Kayak Clinic, 3-5 p.m. Free; contact OPC at (218) 755-3900 to register.
This session will introduce users to kayaking in open water, with a focus on safety, equipment, basic paddling and capsize recovery. Participants are expected to tip over a kayak and swim, then return to the boat. This course is required for persons wanting to take rental kayaks out on Lake Bemidji.
