BEMIDJI, Minn. (April 7, 2010) — Trombones of Bemidji, an ensemble made up of musicians from Bemidji State University and from Bemidji and other surrounding communities, will hold a free concert Wednesday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in the Thompson Recital Hall of the Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex on the Bemidji State campus.

The concert will feature a group of 12 trombones, including several current Bemidji State students. BSU students in the choir are Matt Custer, a senior in music and liberal arts from Grand Rapids, Minn.; Ben Fleming, a junior in music/teacher certification and music/liberal arts from Edina, Minn.; Hyram Price, a graduate student in education from Bemidji; and Steven Radley, a sophomore in music/liberal arts from Luverne, Minn.

Other members of the choir are Jeff Johnson, Alyssa Konecne, Paul Mork, Tom Patnaude, Glenn Seibel, Melissa Stover, Nancy Sydow and Les Torgerson.

The concert will feature a variety of music for large trombone ensemble, as well as two soloists, Nancy Sydow and Tom Patnaude. Both soloists are former Bemidji State students. Sydow will be the featured soloist in a transcription of the famous Puccini aria, “Nessun Dorma,” from the opera Turandot. Patnaude will play his arrangement of the Arthur Pryor favorite, “The Whistler and His Dog.”
