BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University will host a spring Choral Chamber Ensemble concert at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 16, featuring BSU’s three choral chamber ensembles: the Chamber Singers, the men’s Musikanten and the women’s Damestimmen.
The concert, which is offered free of charge, will be held in the Thompson Recital Hall of the Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex.
Members of these auditioned ensembles are also members of the Bemidji Choir. Their concert program will include selections from the Renaissance through the present day including close harmonies of the pop/jazz idioms. Notable selections are “This Marriage” by Eric Whitacre, “They Are At Rest” by Edward Elgar, “Vinea mea electa” by Francis Poulenc, “I’ll Be Seeing You” by Sammy Fain, and “Everything I Own” a 1972 pop hit by BREAD.
The ensembles
• The Chamber Singers, directed by Dr. Brad Logan, is a 16-voice group recognizable as the Madrigal Dinner Royal Court.
• Musikanten is a 20-voice men’s group directed by seniors Joe Colago of Sisseton, S. D., and Jake Kaehne of Bemidji, Minn.
• Damestimmen is a nine-voice women’s group directed by senior Danielle Stadick of Beulah, N.D.
