BEMIDJI, Minn. — A variety of clean energy projects being led by students and faculty at both Bemidji State University and University of Minnesota-Crookston will be highlighted at a green campus forum at Bemidji State University on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
The forum, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 1-4:30 p.m. in the Crying Wolf Room of the Hobson Memorial Union.
The forum will highlight a broad range of projects being worked on by the two universities. Anna Carlson, adjunct faculty member in environmental, earth and space studies, will present on a Clean Energy Resource Team-funded greenhouse gas inventory project; BSU Sustainability Coordinator Erika Bailey-Johnson will talk about her work on campus; and Dr. Dave Bahr, associate professor of physics and chair of the Department of Physics, will discuss energy efficiency research.
Students and faculty from Minnesota-Crookston will present during the second half of the forum on topics including farm-scale biofuel production and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification for new student dormitories.
Both Bemidji State University and Minnesota, Crookston are members of Minnesota Schools Cutting Carbon, and students from both universities will share their thoughts on the program.
“This is a great opportunity for the two campuses to share information and ideas about the clean energy projects that they are working on,” said Anthony Schaffhauser, executive director of the Bemidji State University Center for Research and Innovation. “We hope people will join us and learn about what our students and faculty our doing as well as share their own ideas.”
Initiated in 2003, Clean Energy Resource Teams are a collaborative effort of the University of Minnesota Regional Sustainable Development Partnerships, Minnesota Department of Commerce, the Minnesota Project, the Southwest Regional Development Commission, the Green Institute and community members from across the state.
