BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University’s Outdoor Program Center (OPC) will offer a guided bog walk at Lake Bemidji State Park from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16.
About a mile long, the walk will follow the park’s boardwalk through unique wetlands, penetrating the mysterious world of bog ecology. The trek will offer an opportunity for nature photography buffs to get images of unusual species such as pitcher plants, which are carnivorous.
A van will shuttle participants from the OPC to the park. The walk is free and open to the public, but the OPC asks participants to sign up in advance. More information is available by contacting the Outdoor Program Center at (218) 755-2999 or at http://www.bemidjistate.edu/students/opc.
