BEMIDJI, Minn. – Community musicians are invited to join the Bemidji State University Symphonic Band, a non-auditioned ensemble that performs a variety of music in a concert band setting.
The band rehearses from 7-9 p.m., Mondays, in Room 112 of the Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex and typically performs two or three concerts a year with the summers off.
In October, the band launched its inaugural Halloween Concert with music from Harry Potter, the Broadway show “Wicked,” “Wizard of Oz” and “Phantom of the Opera.”
In April, the band will perform its second annual PRISM concert in which a wide variety of music is presented continuously with no pause between pieces. The band also periodically performs as guests at other BSU concerts.
Interested musicians of all abilities may attend a rehearsal to learn more or contact the director, Dr. Del Lyren, BSU professor of instrumental music, at the Department of Music at (218) 755-2915.
