Alt Sets NSIC Standard for Career TD Passes
Quarterback Brandon Alt has spent his senior season not only putting BSU’s career passing records on lockdown but also making his mark on the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference career record books. His 16-yard second-quarter connection with Brice Peters in BSU’s thrilling Oct. 28 win at Minnesota-Duluth was the 105th touchdown pass in an NSIC game of Alt’s career, moving him past former Augustana quarterback Trey Heid for the league’s career% lead in touchdown passes.
Alt finished the 2023 regular season with a total of 118 touchdown passes and sits fourth amongst all NSIC quarterbacks with 11,126 career% passing yards. He is the only BSU signal-caller to enter the 10,000-yard and 100-TD clubs and is also BSU’s career leader in passing attempts and completions.

Football Wins First-round NCAA Playoff Game
Despite a difficult road loss at Augustana to end the regular season, Beaver Football advanced to the NCAA Playoffs for the third consecutive year. BSU defeated No. 3 seed Texas-Permean Basin in the first round, making BSU the nation’s only program to win first-round games each of the last three years. Minnesota State, Mankato and Augustana also made the playoff field from the NSIC.
Goodwin Caps XC Season With Near-Record Run
BSU cross country wrapped its fall campaign with a 10th-place finish at the NSIC Championships in October. Senior Mary Goodwin paced the squad, finishing 33rd amongst individuals with a time of 22:22.10, the second-fastest time ever by a BSU harrier on a 6,000m course.
Road Sweep Caps Volleyball’s Best Season Since 2010
Beaver Volleyball finished its 2023 regular season with a pair of road wins, escaping Minot State with a five-set victory and closing the season with a 3-1 win at the University of Mary. The road-trip sweep gave BSU a 10-16 record for the campaign, marking the team’s most regular-season victories since 2010. BSU finished 7-11 in NSIC play, its most victories in league play since 2003.
Soccer Repeats As Nsic Tourney Champs
After a 9-3-6 regular season, Beaver Soccer entered the NSIC Tournament as the No. 4 seed and hosted fifth-seeded Augustana in a first-round classic. Augustana broke up a scoreless tie in the 68th minute, and BSU’s Lauren Hodny evened the scoreboard with less than four minutes to play to force overtime. The score remained even after the first 10-minute overtime, and freshman Kenzie Harer scored the game-winner in the 105th minute of the second overtime. BSU then dispatched St. Cloud State, the tourney’s No. 1 seed, 2-0, in the semifinals, then posted a matching 2-0 win over Mary to capture the title and secure a third consecutive NCAA Tournament berth.
Golf Teams Wrap Fall Seasons
Both the BSU men’s and women’s golf teams have concluded the fall portions of their seasons. The men’s squad finished with a 15th-place showing at the NCAA Regional Preview in Edmond, Okla. Brandon Bervig and Logan Schoepp paced the Beavers, shooting matching 220s to tie for 51st overall. Bervig led the Beavers with a 73.3 scoring average over his 12 rounds played this fall.
The women finished their season at Southwest Minnesota State’s Mustang Invitational. Mollie Albrecht led the Beavers with an 83.1 scoring average in her eight rounds played, the only BSU golfer to average under 90. She shot a team-best 78 in the first round of the Tracy Lane Memorial in September.
