It is an exciting time for both Bemidji State and the BSU Alumni & Foundation thanks to the bold strategic vision of President John L. Hoffman and the energy that new BSUAF executive director Allyssa Joseph brings every day. Couple that with the dedication and diligence of the president’s cabinet and the Foundation staff, and it’s clear there is a bright future ahead for this institution.
When I look around the room during a board meeting, I am humbled by the expertise, life experiences and passions of the board members to guide and oversee the work of the BSU Alumni & Foundation. With a back-to-basics approach to governing the Foundation, the board is overseeing our transformation from an event-focused organization to one focused on strategic outcomes. That means:
- Turning the amazing pride of our BSU alumni into engagement and connection back to the university,
- Building a culture of philanthropy,
- Becoming excellent with our donor stewardship,
- Bringing a high level of trusteeship for carrying out the mission of the foundation and its fiduciary responsibilities for the endowment.
BSU Alumni & Foundation is truly being positioned to make a transformational impact on the university’s academic and athletic programs, its students and faculty and its beautiful home in the Minnesota North Woods that we are privileged to call our community.
