Who Can Participate
Any middle school or high school student located in our 18 county region (Aitkin, Beltrami, Benton, Cass, Clearwater, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Itasca, Kittson, Koochiching, Lake of the Woods, Marshall, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pennington, Red Lake, Roseau and Wadena) is encouraged to compete.
- Students must in grades 6-12.
- Students in grades 6-8 will compete in the middle school division.
- Students in grades 9-12 will compete in the high school division.
- Team projects can be either 2 or 3 students. All team members must be in the same grade range (either 6-8 or 9-12).
- Homeschool students must live within a school district that’s school is in one of the counties listed above.
Participants Guidelines
1.All safety guidelines from ISEF must be followed. https://www.societyforscience.org/isef/international-rules/rules-and-guidelines/
2.Any student wanting to be eligible for promotion to the Minnesota State and Engineering Fair must complete all the required paperwork prior to starting experimentation.
3.AI may not be used unless it is part of your experiment.
4.All information displayed or in the paperwork must be in your own words.
5.Data must be collected by the student participant and shall not be fraudulent.
6.Displays must fit on a 24″ x 36″ table. No part of the display may be on the floor, chair or surrounding area and must follow the model and display guidelines.
7.The decisions of the judges are final.
8.Photos and videos of participants may be used to promote the science fair.
