The School of Technology, Art & Design offers scholarships to students who demonstrate academic excellence or financial need.
To be eligible for all scholarships at BSU, fill out the Foundation Scholarship Application.
Al Clark Scholarship
Up to two “Al Clark Scholarships”, to BSU junior or senior students majoring in Business, Education, Engineering, Science or Math with preference to a student in one of the above related majors who are also Laporte High School graduates.
Barbra R. Hanus Leadership Scholarship
Junior or senior in the Art and Design Program with 3.0 cumulative GPA and is working toward completing the Digital and Exhibit Design emphasis area.
Dr. Elwood Largis Family Scholarship
Student(s) majoring in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field. Recipients must indicate a financial need and have a current GPA of 3.0 or better. However, consideration will be given for students who may not necessarily have the requisite GPA, but who show exceptional promise or steady academic improvement and enthusiasm, as determined by the Department Chair.
John G. Kittleson Scholarship
Incoming transfer student with a preference to students majoring in Business, Marketing, Construction Management or Engineering. Cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
John Warford Memorial Scholarship
To one or more students majoring in Industrial Technology. Primary preference to students majoring in Industrial Technology with secondary preference given to students majoring in other areas within the Department.
Joseph and Jenifer Carson Scholarship
The scholarship shall be awarded to one or more students majoring in Industrial/Information Technology, having completed 50% of coursework required for their degree.
Kraus Anderson Scholarship
Junior or senior Industrial Technology major from Northern Minnesota.
Lillie Kleven Print Scholarship
Junior or senior Visual Art major with minimum two courses in print medium.
Lueken Family Technology, Art and Design Scholarship
Recipient(s) of this award must be majoring in graphic design, exhibit design or studio arts.
M. Fern Birnstihl Scholarship – $5,000
Preference given to incoming freshman majoring in Visual Arts and/or Music. If an incoming student is not identified who meets the minimum requirement, the award may be presented to a returning student who is majoring in Visual Arts and Music. The scholarships shall be divided between Visual Arts and Music. $5,000 to Visual Arts, $5,000 to Music.
Margaret Harlow Ceramics Scholarship
Junior or senior Visual/Studio Art major with minimum two courses in ceramics.
Marvin Anderson Family Scholarship
Major in Technological Studies with financial need, preference to MN residents.
Marvin Windows and Doors Scholarship
One each, for a major in Computer Science and a major in Engineer.
Otter Tail Power Scholarship
Junior or senior, majoring in Applied Engineering, minimum GPA of 3.0. If more than one student qualifies, preference should be given to the student from an Otter Tail Power Company Service area.
Ottertail Co. Scholarship Fund
For students in Applied Engineering and/or Applied Management within the Technological Studies area.
Paul Bunyan Communications Technology Scholarship
Junior or senior Technology, Computer Science or Mathematics majors with preference given to students from the Paul Bunyan Communications service area. Awards are divided (2 each) between Technology, and Math/Computer Science.
Peggy (Marvin) Johnson Memorial Scholarship
Preference to students from Warroad MN High School, minimum GPA of 2.5 at the end of the last recorded semester (for both incoming freshman as well as those recipients who may be renewing). Preference to majors in Business or Technology (preference given to Engineering Technology majors) rotating majors each year. If no qualifying freshman Business or Tech students from Warroad apply for admission in a given year, the preference for scholarships will be given to qualified Warroad High School students entering BSU with majors in other fields. If no qualified applicants from Warroad High School are attending BSU, the preference will be given to students from Northern Minnesota (north of US Hwy 2). Renewable for up to 4 years by maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5. Students can change majors and continue to receive the award IF they meet the minimum GPA standard.
Rick and Marcella Sherman Scholarship
Major in Visual Arts, who is an outstanding visual artist.
Roy and Eva Lind Scholarship
For junior or senior Visual Arts, Elm. Ed. or Mass Communications majors.
Stephen/Lois Sorenson Endow for Visual Arts
Major in Visual Arts.
Vets Club Scholarship- L Olson
Veteran who is enrolled in Industrial Technology major, has financial need and minimum 2.0 GPA.
Westy James Scholarship
Design, Visual Arts major and has taken at least one course in ceramics.
William Sellon Scholarship
Junior or senior Industrial Technology major with 3.25 GPA.
