Students will learn the foundational elements of art and principles of design. This critical language of visual communication will help students navigate through visual storytelling problems creatively. Students will be driven to experiment with various digital illustration tools, with an additional focus on three dimensional and animation media. The goal is to get students to create their own personal style that distinguishes their work technically and conceptually. Each student will find areas of interest within Digital Illustration and Animation that will allow them to explore styles and publishing formats that best complement his or her own personal style.
Digital Illustration and Animation students at Bemidji State University work in static and dynamic formats such as print-based and interactive media, and environmental applications to address functional communication needs. Visual storytelling products created by digital illustrators and animators may interpret, inform, instruct, persuade or entertain.
The department prides itself on its close relationship with the industry.
