Born and raised in Oregon, Carl Karpinski attended Bemidji State University with the intention of continuing on to law school. Throughout the political science curriculum and insightful conversations with the department, Carl was able to prepare himself to get into law school beginning with his first semester at Bemidji State. While attending BSU, faculty connected him with a local law firm where Carl was able to have firsthand experience in a firm, even before graduating. With the guidance of the political science faculty, Carl was able to pursue his dream of becoming an attorney by double majoring in 3 years, before attending the University of North Dakota School of Law. Immersing himself in the unique small legal field of North Dakota, Carl was able to clerk at a general civil law firm throughout law school, before becoming licensed and starting his legal career with the North Dakota Attorney General. After a year of litigating on behalf of the state, Carl moved to the State and Local division of the Attorney General where he now serves as general counsel for six state agencies and nine professional licensing boards.
