The FasTrack program meets requirements of the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) for licensure in the state of Minnesota. If you are living in another state and interested in seeking licensure in state other than Minnesota, you will need to follow that state’s requirements for candidates prepared out of state. Please contact the Department of Education in your state to learn about the requirements for licensure in your state.
You will be able to review the possible alignment of the courses in your content area with the courses Bemidji requires in the content area in which you seek licensure and compare it with your transcripts. You must have a 2.5 GPA to qualify for FasTrack.
Upon full acceptance and successful completion of all requirements, coursework and student teaching, Bemidji State University will recommend for licensure. There is no required portfolio development.
Note: Field experiences and student teaching require school district criminal background checks. If you think you may have an issue you may want to initiate a background, check yourself before you seek admission. Applicants with any prior conviction(s) may be unable to complete a program of study in Education. Your disposition for the role of professional educator will be assessed throughout the program. This includes things such as attendance, reliability and communication skills.
