Apply For Nursing Scholarships
The Department of Nursing offers merit based and need based scholarships to students who have show excellence in the nursing program. These scholarships are only available to Nursing students admitted into pre-licensure or the RN to B.S. programs.
To be eligible for all scholarships at BSU, fill out the Foundation Scholarship Application before February 1st.
Available Scholarships
These scholarships are through the BSU foundation.
Adam Ley Memorial Scholarship
Criteria: Junior or Senior Nursing major with demonstrated leadership and compassion out of the classroom.
Amelia Dalzatto Nursing Scholarship
Criteria: Student admitted to the BSU Nursing program. Review of GPA, financial needs and abilities.
Beltrami County Behavioral Health Scholarship – $4,000
Criteria: The recipients of this award must be a sophomore, junior or senior majoring in Social Work, Nursing or Psychology. Recipients must have graduated from a high school in Beltrami County, Clearwater County, Hubbard County or Lake of the Woods County. American Indian students are highly encouraged to apply. Recipients are expected to work for a non-profit in Bemidji for five years after graduation. $4,000 each to Social Work, Nursing and Psychology. Scholarships may be renewable.
Bertha Evenson Memorial Fund
Criteria: One or more students in Nursing with financial need. Preference to students who indicate they plan to work in rural areas after graduation.
Harold T. Peters Scholarship
Criteria: Sophomore, junior or senior with a 3.0 or greater GPA majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Studies, Nursing, Math or Computer Science. $500 award to each of the departments.
Ida Toffle Scholarship
Criteria: Recipient shall be a student majoring in nursing with a GPA of 3.0 or greater with a preference given to students from northern Minnesota seeking to practice nursing in northern Minnesota.
Ingrid Polkinghome Nursing Scholarship
Criteria: Recipient shall be a first-year nursing student with demonstrated financial need. Preference given to underserved students.
Jeanette Moe-Pearce Memorial Scholarship
Criteria: Majoring in Nursing with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA with unmet financial needs. Can be awarded to the same student in successive years.
Joelyn Scriba Nursing Scholarship
Criteria: BSU student(s) perusing careers in nursing.
Loris Westrom Nursing Scholarship
Criteria: Two scholarships, with one going to a junior and the other to a senior 4 year Nursing major. Preference will be given to the same recipient their senior year if criteria is met. A minimum GPA of 3.5 is required. Recipients should also have a demonstrated need for financial support.
Marjory C. Beck Nursing Scholarship
Criteria: Major in Nursing.
Nursing Scholarship Endowment
Criteria: Nursing Student.
Ron Batchelder Scholarship
Criteria: The scholarships will be awarded with preference to juniors and seniors majoring in Nursing, Economics and Business with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrated financial need.
St. Joseph’s Area Health Services Nursing Scholarship
Criteria: Undergraduate student who is from within 50 miles of Park Rapids and has been accepted into the four-year B.S.N. Nursing program at BSU.

Friends of Sanford Health Scholarship
Criteria: The completed application is due March 15th, 2023
Ten $1500 Friends of Sanford Health Scholarships are available to students in the Sanford Bemidji service region and to present employees of Sanford Bemidji. To be considered for one of these scholarships, an applicant must be pursuing a career in a health related field, and not have been a previous recipient.
This scholarship is contingent upon enrollment in an accredited school. It will be sent directly to the financial aid office of the chosen school for credit toward the student’s educational expenses when a fee statement or proof of enrollment is received by the Scholarship Committee.
Applicants are responsible to see that all necessary information is received by the committee. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Recipients of the scholarship will be notified by April 15, 2023.
