Many hospitals offer summer internships for student nurses. General qualifications include completion of Junior year of the nursing program, current BLS certification and commitment of 30-40 hours per week for the 10 week duration. Benefits of an internship experience include:
- Enhancing and reinforcing nursing concepts
- Building foundational knowledge for NCLEX preparation
- Networking opportunities for capstone placement or future RN employment
- Earning college credit and potential compensation provided by the hospital for hours worked

- Applications are accepted as early as mid-fall and may be competitive.

- All internships must have a valid clinical contract with BSU.
- Internships based in Minnesota likely require enrollment in the summer BSU course, NRSG 3970.
- Internships based outside Minnesota must be approved by the BSU Nursing department.
