Prototype engineering is an essential step in the design and development process of creating a final solution, product or design. With many different prototypes in place the engineer, designer or maker can develop various iterations of the same product and see how it would look and perform best in real life.
The Prototype Engineering & Model Making learning Pathway at BSU prepares students with the knowledge, skills and expertise needed to create and construct tangible three-dimensional scale models. Utilizing a creative problem-solving process, students will familiarize themselves with various engineering and model-making disciplines. (e.g. consumer products, medical, toys, prototypes, industrial design, architectural, 3D printing and engineering). Alumni from this program have been employed at Fiskars, Hasbro, Acme Design, Radio-Flyer, Motorola and Target.
