Becoming a Certified Public Accountant, CPA, is a rewarding and career boosting credential. Only a CPA can audit a company’s books or officially validate its financial information and reports. That is why many accounting jobs require the passing of the CPA exam.

Earn College Credit at BSU While Preparing for the CPA Exam

The CPA exam prep courses at Bemidji State University are offered in a concentrated format designed to prepare you for each of the four sections of the exam.

Student do not have to be enrolled in the Masters of Accountancy program to take these courses. They are open to anyone who is preparing for the CPA exam.

These courses guide you through the entire exam process from application, to scheduling, to preparing to sit for the exam. Once you finish a course, you can sit for that section of the exam during the next available window.

BSU’s CPA exam prep courses will count toward the 150 total semester credits required to obtain your certification.

ACCT 6130 Auditing & Attestation (AUD) (3 credits)
Preparation for Exam Section: Auditing & Attestation
Planning the auditors engagement with clients, evaluating internal controls, obtaining and documenting information, reviewing engagements, evaluating information and preparing communications. Prerequisite(s): Accounting Bachelor’s Degree or instructor consent. Offered spring and fall semester

ACCT 6140 Business Law, Ethics & Tax Regulation (REG) (3 credits)
Preparation for Exam Section: Regulation
The advanced study of ethics and professional responsibility, business law, Federal tax procedures and accounting issues, Federal taxation of property transactions and Federal taxation for individuals and entities. Weekly case studies included for topics of study. Prerequisites: Accounting Bachelor’s Degree or instructor consent Offered spring and fall semester.

ACCT 6110 Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) (3 credits)
Preparation for Exam Section: Financial Accounting & Reporting
Conceptual framework and structure of accounting theory, including study of selected Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) statements and other professional literature. Prerequisite(s): Accounting Bachelor’s Degree or instructor consent. Offered spring and fall semester

ACCT 6120 Business Environment and Concepts (BEC) (3 credits)
An in-depth study of business environment and concepts adapted to current business conditions.
Prerequisite(s): Accounting Bachelor’s Degree or instructor consent. Offered spring and fall semester
